How Acquired: Taken with the seventh overall selection in the 2005 draft by the Vikings, a pick the team acquired in the trade that sent Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders.

2005: Played in 14 games, starting three, and finished the year with 24 receptions for 372 yards and two touchdowns. Had his best day as a pro vs. the Saints in the Vikings’ first win of the season, catching three passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. He also returned 12 kickoffs for 192 yards – an average of 16 yards per return.
College: Played in every game, starting five contests as a true freshman at South Carolina. As a freshman, caught 17 passes for 491 yards (28.9 avg.) and four touchdowns. In 2003, started 10 games, catching 31 passes for 428 yards (13.8 avg.) and two touchdowns, including a school- and Southeastern Conference-record 99-yarder. Also returned 14 kickoffs for 268 yards (a 19.1-yard average). As a junior, had a career-high 835 yards on 43 receptions with seven touchdowns. Had seven kickoff returns for 105 yards (15.0 average). Finished career with 91 receptions for 1,754 yards (19.3 average) and 13 touchdowns in 34 games. His 1,754 yards rank seventh on the school's all-time record list. Also gained 101 yards on 12 carries (8.4 avg.), 447 yards on 24 kickoff returns (18.6 avg.) and recorded four solo tackles on special teams. Hotel, restaurant and tourism management major.
Personal: Attended Silver Bluff (Jackson, S.C.) High School – the same high school as former Viking Corey Chavous. A PrepStar All-American. Mr. Football finalist in the state of South Carolina, leading Silver Bluff to back-to-back state championships during a 30-game winning streak. Caught 21 passes for 500 yards and rushed for 890 yards as a senior. Consensus all-state selection. Named Class AA Player of the Year by The High School Sports Report. Rated No. 5 best WR prospect in the Atlantic by Prep Star. Rated No. 16 best WR prospect in the nation, according to Tom Lemming of ESPN and Prep Football Report. Named third-team All-South by Fox Sports Net. 2001 Shrine Bowl selection. Named Statewide All-Star by High School Sports Report. Also ran track, twice winning the state titles in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Lost his father in 2004 after a long battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Active in the New Beginning Ministry in his hometown.
