| Fast-rising lineman who is near top ten status despite some knee injury history. Explosive, nasty, and quick, Bunkley can play either DT or DE depending on the scheme. Can be developed further by improving his moves and hands. |
| Biography: |
Starting all games at defensive tackle, Bunkley finally was able deliver on his promise. Finished the season with 25 tackles for a loss (school record, second nationally) and nine sacks (career high, team leader). Led the nation in TFL by an interior lineman. Also had two fumble recoveries. Named to several first-team All-America squads.
Bunkley's expected breakout year as a junior was derailed due to injuries, but he still started seven games at defensive tackle. His disappointing season yielded three tackles for a loss and one sack.
As a sophomore, Bunkley played in all 13 games and started two at nose guard (Virginia and Wake Forrest) for an injured Jeff Womble. He ranked third among defensive lineman with 38 tackles (19 solo, 19 assisted). He also added a career high eight tackles for a loss, five quarterback hurries, two pass break-ups, one and a half sacks, and a fumble recovery.
