| The Ravens had high hopes for Thomas when they selected him in the sixth round of the 2000 draft. Regarded as a diamond in the rough by most scouts, and a player that probably should have been drafted three rounds earlier, Thomas has already shown glimpses of greatness. But the Ravens know that Thomas still has a long way to go before he is held in the same regard as a pass rusher as McCrary and Boulware are right now. Thomas has outstanding straight line speed, clocking in with a 4.6 time in the 40. His ability to get after the QB will be a key issue for the Ravens to have a good defense this season.
After a great career at Southern Mississippi, Thomas has come into the NFL and played in 19 games in his first two seasons. The 6-2 defensive end has picked up 3.5 sacks in that time.
