Biography:
Matt Kranchick was the second of three Steeler sixth round draft picks in 2004. Although Kranchick saw limited playing time in college, becoming a starter his senior year, the Steelers were impressed with his soft hands and size.

Kranchick came to Penn State as a wide receiver and moved to tight end after adding 45 pounds via Penn State's weight conditioning program. His determination in the weight room was matched in the classroom, as he graduated in only 3and 1/2 years with a 3.2 GPA. He recorded 24 receptions passes for 352 yards (14.7 average) and a touchdown over 23 games with the Nittany Lions.

Positives: A huge target with excellent strength. He is an excellent blocker and a great target in the middle of the field. He will give you a short yardage, red zone receiver who will be hard to cover with shorter DBs.

Negatives: He was slow to develop his receiving skills and confidence but has made great strides over the past year. He still needs to work on receiving techniques and more precise and disciplined route running.
