Ravens' R. Green stabbed

Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Roderick Green was stabbed early Sunday morning at a Randallstown bowling alley and remained in stable condition Sunday night at Sinai Hospital, according to police officials.

Green, 24, was stabbed once in the stomach by an unnamed man in the parking lot of Kings Point Lanes at 4111 Deer Park Rd. in Randallstown, Baltimore County Police spokeswoman Vickie Warehime said.

Police officials said that Green accidentally bumped into the man with an argument ensuing between midnight and 1 a.m. When Green attempted to escape a heated situation, the unknown assailant chased the third-year reserve defender and special-teams standout outside and stabbed him once.

Green managed to escape, police said, and was admitted to the hospital. He could be released from Sinai as soon as today, but might stay as long as two nights as a precautionary measure.

Police didn't offer a description of the suspect, who remained at large as of Sunday night, but urged anyone with information to contact them immediately through their Crimestoppers hotline at 410-276-8888. Several people apparently witnessed the incident outside the bowling alley.

Green's injuries aren't believed to be serious, although it was too early to speculate whether the 6-foot-2, 245-pounder would be available for the start of training camp which begins July 27 in Westminster at McDaniel College.

Drafted in the fifth round out of Central Missouri in 2004, the Texas native is entering his third season. Green was credited with 11 tackles and two sacks in 16 games last season.
