He hosted 25 athletes from around the state, including a few from Carroll
County, at a brief ceremony following Thursday’s practice at McDaniel College.
Named to the organization’s honorary board of directors where he joins former
Ravens defensive end Michael McCrary, Ryan will help coach 10,000 athletes. Ryan
will also leap into Chesapeake Bay in January for the annual Polar Bear Plunge
to benefit Special Olympics.
“I’m excited and honored to join such a great organization,” Ryan said while
surrounded by Special Olympians. “I want to really get involved and be a part of
Special Olympics and do my part.”
J. LEWIS UPDATE: Ravens coach Brian Billick said that running back Jamal Lewis
is slated to take six to 10 snaps Saturday night when he’ll make his preseason
debut against the Philadelphia Eagles at M&T Bank Stadium.
THOMAS UPDATE: Linebacker Adalius Thomas said he’s uncertain if he’ll play
Saturday after hyperextending his knee a week ago.
Thomas is participating in team drills, but still appears to be slightly
favoring his right knee.
“I don’t want to take any risks with it,” Thomas said. “If I can’t go full
speed, I’m probably not going to go. We'll see."
TRAINING ROOM: Tight end Todd Heap (ankle, shoulder), fullback Alan Ricard
(calf), running back Musa Smith (leg), nickel back Dale Carter (leg), linebacker
Dan Cody (knee) and linebacker Tyson Smith (leg) didn't practice.
Nickel back Deion Sanders didn't practice, taking his fourth day off of training
camp.
KING UGLY: Defensive end Terrell Suggs was voted ‘King Ugly” in the team’s
annual contest.
Offensive tackle Dante Ellington was the runnerup, and defensive line coach
Clarence Brooks finished third. Brooks wins the money for finishing third.
