Ravens' O. Brown likely out for a while

OWINGS MILLS -- It's unclear whether injured running back Jamal Lewis or tight end Todd Heap are inching closer to being able to play Sunday, but the outlook is far more negative for offensive tackle Orlando Brown.

Brown was a late scratch in the Ravens' 24-3 loss to the New England Patriots because of tendonitis in his knee. Ravens coach Brian Billick indicated that Brown will be replaced for the indefinite future at right tackle by Ethan Brooks, starting Sunday against the Bengals.

"He's been having something going on with the knee and it just stiffened up on him for whatever reason and couldn't go," Billick said Monday. "That's something that we're going to have to address. He's going to have to work through it.

"The difficulty is getting enough reps throughout the course of the week so as not to stress it, but in the same token getting enough to get you ready for the game. It's likely that Ethan will start for a while."

Meanwhile, Billick was noncommittal on whether Lewis, who missed the New England game with a sprained right ankle, or Heap, who has missed the last nine games with a sprained ankle, will play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

"I wish I could be more definitive for you, that they'll work through that," Billick said. "Jamal, we'll find out as he'll work a little bit more this week. Todd, again, has been very promising, but we've got to wait until he can really pull the trigger."

For the first time this season, the Ravens reported no new injuries.
